Yes2Know Summit Information

The Summit is fast approaching!
Yes2Know is a youth conference organized in conjunction with the RCMP to give Kootenay students an opportunity to learn more about adolescent issues. The Summit runs May 1 for the grade 8’s and May 2nd for the grade 10’s and is hosted by Selkirk College in Castlegar.  The theme this year is “Whatever You Are, Be a Good One”
There is a wonderful list of speakers this year and our keynote speakers Ryan and Kevin from the Amazing Race Canada will be very inspirational.
Transportation will be provided and all grade 8 and 10 students are expected to attend.
Students will have the chance to register in classes this week by going to the forms linked below:
 
Here’s a look at the what the day holds:
9:30 – 10:00   Welcome  – Gymnasium Selkirk College (Grade 10 – Thea Culley KidSport and National Field Hockey)
10:00-10:35   Session #1
10:40-11:15   Session #2
11:20-12:00   Session #3
12:00-1:00     Lunch    –    Bring your lunch or buy at Selkirk Cafeteria
                        Spark Area – Fun and Games, Sponsors, Visit booths to win Cool Prizes
1:00-2:00       Keynote Speakers – Ryan Lachapelle and Kenneth McAlpine – Team Give’r Amazing Race Canada   – Gymnasium

Entrepreneurship at SHSS!

Stanley Humphries Secondary School’s Planning 10 students recently completed a two-day “Be Entrepreneurial” workshop, which was hosted by the Junior Achievers of British Columbia and sponsored by Columbia Basin Trust.

Go Myles Go!!!

SHSS is very proud to recognize Myles Peterson for his amazing work in Junior Dragon’s Den. Myles placed first in the West Kootenay Regional Competition and will now compete in the finals at the Charles Bailey Theater on May 5th.
