September is all wrapped up and it’s been an amazing month! Have a look at our newsletter to share in some of our learning!
We will be having our first Graduation Transitions meeting this Thursday morning at 8:45. We will go over the plan for volunteering and get everyone ready to work with MyBlueprint. These are 2 of the required elements of the Grad Trans course.
Attendance at the meeting is mandatory. Though many of you have a study block at this time, please arrange to be at school for first period. This will be a useful session to help you plan out your Grad Trans work and we need to see all of you there!
The Transportation Department is working to provide bus passes for students requiring bussing. Please sign up now for this school year. Registration is required annually in order to ride the bus. Please use link to register.
Every year, our school district receives funds to provide services to all students with Indigenous ancestry. The funding is intended to ensure Indigenous student success by improving school completion rates, creating a stronger sense of belonging, building cultural pride and increasing the awareness of all students.
If you would like your student to receive services from our SHSS Indigenous support workers, we require a signed consent form so that we can include your child in activities and initiatives that meet their wishes.
We have a dynamic team of Indigenous support workers at SH who are designing fantastic learning opportunities for all of our students and we hope that you will let us know if you are interested in finding out more.
You can print and sign the Consultation Form here or look for the paper copy that will come home with your child on Thursday. Please return this form by Monday, September 24th.

Collaboration Mondays at SHSS are a time for staff to co-create and learn from each other. This means a 9:49am start for our students. Buses run later than usual, so please consult the SD20 Transportation site to find out what time buses will be at your stop.
This calendar shows all of our Collab days for the 2018-19 school year in yellow.
Note: The purple Early Dismissal days in November are for Elementary Schools.
I am sure we are all feeling the effects of the smoky skies. To minimize student exposure to the smoke, we will be consulting the Air Quality Health Index daily. As per district direction, when the reading is of 7 or greater, PE and any other outdoor activities will be reprogrammed so that students can be inside.
We will let students know daily what the Index reading is so that they can make an informed decision on where to spend their lunch break.

Thank you for your support and we hope that we will be seeing blue September skies soon.
